I get asked all the time “So how did you get into photography?” Well… I didn’t intentionally. Taking pictures was always a hobby of mine. I would take pictures of waves, trees, surfers, mountains, seashells, people fishing, family members at celebrations. But I would always pay attention to detail, angles, lighting and I found so much joy in editing my pictures. Ironically enough I was always the one in charge of taking the pictures at family gathers. I never took my hobby serious though until September 2022. After my sister’s wedding in September, I was so intrigued by the role of photographer. It was her responsibility to capture every detail, the candid moments, the pre-planned portraits, the prompts and poses. I wanted to be her. I wanted to be the one who was responsible for one the biggest moments. Oddly enough, I took my grandma’s vintage Polaroid camera to the wedding that day. I snapped a few pictures, showed them to my sister a few weeks later and her reaction was something I’ll never forget. From that day on I knew photography my calling was. I invested in a Nikon then quickly upgraded to a Canon R6. I would watch Youtube morning till night, ask other professionals, read articles, watched educational reels, join other photographers at weddings and sessions. I was doing anything to improve my photography skills. Fast forward a year, I’m now traveling to different states for elopements, booking weddings left and right and packing in my schedule with sessions.
